We recently treated ourselves to a much-needed adults-only escape at The Nici Hotel in Bournemouth and it truly delivered on every level. As parents of three, weekends like this are rare so it’s always nice to plan them and find a great place! The Nici perched high above the sea on Bournemouth’s West Cliff, felt like a true getaway, without even needing a passport, especially in the summer months.
With its 30m outdoor pool, luxury spa, cabana-lined terrace and fire pits, The Nici is redefining what luxury travel looks like on the south coast. It brings the feel of an international resort, think Miami meets Mediterranean, right to Dorset. And it was just what we needed.
The Spa: A Coastal Sanctuary of Calm
Step into serenity at The Nici Spa, where coastal calm meets pure indulgence. We love the indoor pool, with hot tub, sauna, steam room and seriously comfy day beds.
Treatments here are designed to restore and recharge, with expert therapists and high-end products from brands like OTO and Oskia. You’ll find everything from soothing massages and LED facials to tuning fork therapy and warm bamboo treatments. We love the massages, I always fall asleep!
For anyone local, The Nici Club even offers unlimited spa access and exclusive events, it is a proper year-round sanctuary to escape to.
Miami Vibes, Dorset Views
We booked a standard room, and honestly, it was perfect. The design nails that laid-back luxury vibe, with bold, tropical prints, curved furniture, and a subtle retro edge that gives The Nici its signature character.
Think pastel palettes, palm-leaf patterns, and just the right amount of fun. If you’re looking for something a little more special, then check out the sea view rooms – they are beautifully situated with views over the pool and even better check out the ground floor rooms, complete with hot tubs!
Beyond the room, the hotel’s outdoor pool, fire pits, and boutique cinema add even more reasons to slow down and stay put.
Dining That’s Never Just a Meal
At The Nici, food is part of the experience and every meal feels like a mini event.
- At South Beach, enjoy elegant dishes, Champagne afternoon teas, and all-day menus with a Miami twist. We ate lunch here after the spa and it was absolutely lovely to sit on the terrace in the sun! Their house rose is also delicious!
- Old Harry Rocks brings the laid-back energy, with bold flavours, a Mediterranean vibe, and live DJs on weekends. Perfect for winding down the evening in style.
From sun-drenched lunches to cocktails by the pool, there’s always a reason to stay a little longer.
It’s not often we get time just for us, so when we do, it matters that it feels special. And The Nici nailed it. From the spa and the views to the cosy robes and colourful interiors, every detail felt thoughtful and luxurious without ever being too formal.
If you’re after a grown-up getaway that lets you escape without the jetlag, this spot should be high on your list. We left feeling recharged, reconnected, and already planning our return.
