Our La Sirène Holiday Review – Argelès-sur-Mer

After hearing great things about La Sirène, we booked our first trip in 2023 through Eurocamp and had such a brilliant time and spoiler alert: we loved it so much we rebooked for the following summer.

The parc is based just outside Argelès-sur-Mer in the south of France, close to the Spanish border. It’s nestled between the mountains and the sea, which means you get warm weather, stunning sunsets and the option of both beach and pool days.

We travelled as a family of five with young children and wanted something that gave us a bit of adventure and lots of time outdoors, but still felt easy. La Sirène delivered.

The Journey

We flew from Stansted as this was the only airport we could find that went to Perpignan. While we would usually prefer to fly from somewhere closer, we made it work with an early flight and a stay in a Premier Inn near the airport so the early morning wasn’t quite as early! The flight to Perpignan is short (under two hours), and the airport is small, making it super easy to navigate with kids. In 2023 we got an Uber to the campsite, which we booked when we arrived and then used taxi’s to get around and in 2024 we hired a car. Both options worked well, though we barely used the car once we arrived, so next time we would get a taxi again.

You can also fly into other airports and make the journey to the parc. We met a lot of people who had flown into Girona and then crossed the border, so that would also be an option.

First Impressions

Pulling into La Sirène, you instantly feel like you’re on holiday. Palm trees, bougainvillaea, and a warm breeze greeted us as we checked in. The site is big and lively but really well maintained. It felt clean, safe, and had a relaxed, happy atmosphere from the start.

Top tip – If you have an early flight, pack your swimming costume and anything you need at the top of your case for easy access. You can leave your bags at the main reception (they have lockers for valuables too) and then enjoy the facilities. The Eurocamp office is the other side of the parc and you cannot check in until the afternoon, so don’t wheel your cases all the way there only to have to wheel them back! Do this and you can start to enjoy your holiday right away!

Our Accommodation

In 2023, we booked a three bedroom azure vista Eurocamp mobile home which we thought was perfect for us. We booked last minute so didn’t have a huge choice, but this option had a lovely outdoor space and table on a deck which we loved. We were in a great spot near the Eurocamp office and about a five to ten minute walk to the main pool area, which was ideal with young children.

In 2024, we decided to book a more Premium Lounge mobile home, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It was brand new and felt like a real step up in quality, lots of space, a big decking area, and just generally more modern and well-designed. The only downside was that it was a bit further from the main pool area, but we hired our son (then four) a little bike to get around and it worked perfectly.

Pools & Water Play

The pool area is the star of the show here, there are multiple pools to suit all ages, from toddler splash zones to bigger slides and lagoon-style swimming areas. Lifeguards are always present, and it feels very safe. The pools can get busy in the middle of the day, but we often found a quiet moment in the morning or later afternoon. It is worth noting that we went outside of the French school holidays so I expect it would be busier in the height of summer.

There’s also a heated toddler pool with a retractable roof which is handy on cooler days or for some shade. The slides were a huge hit with our eldest, and our youngest loved the little splash areas.

Hippocampe Access

Just across the road is Hippocampe, a smaller, pedestrianised parc owned by the same people. You can use their pool and restaurant, and vice versa for people staying there. It felt quieter over there and made for a nice change of pace on some days.

Food & Eating Out

There’s a restaurant and bar on site which we used a few times. It’s casual, friendly, and the food is good; pizza, pasta, salads, and the usual family favourites. We also loved getting fresh croissants and baguettes from the onsite bakery each morning.

The supermarket is well-stocked, and we often made simple dinners at the mobile home and lunch was always a baguette!

There are also loads of brilliant places to eat in nearby Argelès-sur-Mer, especially down by the marina and beachfront. It’s a short drive away.

Activities & Kids’ Clubs

There are kids’ clubs and activities throughout the week, though we didn’t join these, but saw lots of children having lots of fun in them! You can also book in for sports, crafts, and watersports, but be quick as they booked up quickly!\

There is also a big park, perfect for early mornings before the pool opens!

Our days mainly revolved around swimming, beach time, and just enjoying the freedom of the site.

Evening Entertainment

La Sirène puts on a great range of family-friendly evening entertainment. Most nights, there’s something going on in the main arena, from kids’ discos first to full-blown shows like The Lion King. You can also book a dinner and show option, which we did in 2024. We didn’t think the food was as good as the restaurants on site which was a shame, but we all enjoyed the views of the show from above. The shows are well-organised and perfect if you’re looking to wind down after dinner with something fun and easy for the whole family.

Around the Area

One of the big perks of La Sirène is its location. You’re perfectly placed to explore this beautiful part of southern France, with both sandy beaches and postcard-pretty towns nearby.

Argelès-sur-Mer beach is just a short bike ride or drive away. It’s long, wide, and family-friendly with soft sand, shallow water and plenty of space even in peak season. We loved our beach mornings here, building sandcastles and splashing in the sea. There’s also a marina area with restaurants and shops if you fancy a little wander. We bought some lovely bracelets to remember our holiday with.

A bit further along the coast is Collioure, and it’s 100% worth the trip. This colourful seaside town is picture-perfect, with narrow streets, art galleries, and harbourside cafés that feel like they’ve come straight from a painting. We spent a morning exploring, enjoying a seafood lunch, and soaking in the laid-back vibe. If you go, wear comfy shoes—it’s made for strolling.

La Sirène was a perfect base for our family. It had everything we needed to keep the kids happy and we loved the restaurants and facilites on site, which made everything feel easy! It felt safe, fun, and a great blend of simplicity with just the right amount of luxury.

Will we go back again? Absolutely. And if you’re thinking about trying a Eurocamp holiday for the first time, this is a great place to start.
