Best Sunset Drinks in West Dorset: Where to Sip by the Sea

There’s nothing quite like watching the sun dip into the horizon along the West Dorset coast, it is one of my favourite things to do when I can escape bedtime!

From golden beaches to chic clifftop terraces and even cruises on the water, this part of the Jurassic Coast offers some of the best sunset views in the UK. Whether you prefer sandy toes and an Aperol Spritz, a glass of chilled rosé on a hotel terrace, or dancing on deck as the sun sets, here’s our guide to the best sunset drinks in West Dorset.

Hive Beach Café, Burton Bradstock

Perched right on the sand, Hive Beach Café is one of Dorset’s most loved spots for sunset drinks.

Between 4–5pm, enjoy their Happy Hour – two drinks for £12, from Aperol Spritz to house wine to the cocktail of the day. Wednesdays bring a resident DJ, adding the perfect soundtrack to your golden hour moment. With its beachfront location and laid-back charm, it’s easy to see why this café is a favourite for sunset lovers in West Dorset.

Watch House Café, West Bay

A sister venue to Hive Beach, the Watch House Café sits right on East Beach in West Bay. Pair a glass of wine or a cold beer with a wood-fired pizza, and watch as the sun dip over the sea.

Every Thursday from 5–8pm, they host Beats on the Beach with DJ Pete Healey – an evening of music, fun, and incredible views over the Jurassic Coast as the sun sets. It’s a relaxed yet vibrant setting for sunset drinks in West Dorset.

Seaside Boarding House, Burton Bradstock

For a touch of seaside glamour, head to the Seaside Boarding House. Set on a cliff with sweeping views over the Jurassic Coast, this elegant spot is perfect for an Aperol Spritz, Champagne, or G&T as the sun melts into the horizon.

The stylish terrace and timeless décor make it a go-to for couples or friends looking for a more refined sunset drink spot in Dorset. You can read my full review on The Seaside Boarding House here.

Swim, Lyme Regis

Right on the beach in Lyme Regis, Swim is one of the town’s best-kept secrets for a sunset cocktail. On Friday nights, it’s the place to be — they serve 2 for £16 cocktails and host live music, making it the perfect way to roll into the weekend. The combination of sea views, great drinks, and a vibrant atmosphere makes Swim a must-visit for golden hour in Lyme Regis.
