The Halloween Ghost Train, A Spooktacular Dorset Adventure

This October, we hopped aboard the brand-new Halloween Ghost Train from Norden Station, and for our train loving son, it was one of his highlights of the year and it was a spooktacular treat for the rest of us too!

All Aboard

From the moment we arrived, it felt like stepping into a Halloween storybook. Norden Station was fully decked out with pumpkins, cobwebs, and flickering lanterns, the perfect mix of spooky and fun. The steam train itself looked incredible, complete with a giant skull on the front, hissing steam, the kids thought it was fantastic!

On the Train

Each carriage was decorated and full of atmosphere, but the real magic came from the live characters. A mischievous witch and a pumpkin-headed storyteller made their way through the train, keeping the children entertained with spooky tales and bits of Dorset folklore.

It was just the right amount of fright, enough to make it exciting, but never too scary especially when you have younger children.

Every child also received a little activity pack with colouring pages and a pumpkin stress toy, a lovely touch that kept them busy between stories.

The Setting

As the train puffed through the Purbeck countryside, we loved seeing the sights, especially Corfe Castle. With easy parking and a play area at Norden Station, it was easy and relaxed from start to finish.

Our Thoughts

We loved the charm of being on a real steam train, with friendly staff and a great event that’s been designed with families in mind. It wasn’t as polished as the Christmas event, but we really enjoyed it and it felt more traditional and more about the steam train experience.

If you’re looking for something fun, original, and a little bit spooky this Halloween, the Ghost Train is a must.
