If you’re looking for the coolest family-friendly stay in Cornwall, SeaSpace in Newquay might just be it.
We recently spent a long weekend there, and it turned out to be the perfect staycation for our family. Cornwall has always held a special place for me, I spent my childhood summers here at the former Trevelgue Hotel, so returning to see how the space has been reimagined as SeaSpace felt particularly special.
What stood out straight away is that this isn’t just a hotel. It’s a space designed for real life with kids, where everything has been set up to keep everyone happy from families to the local community.

Set on the cliffs between Porth and Watergate Bay, SeaSpace is a design-led apartment hotel in Cornwall that blends the freedom of self-catering with the feel of a lifestyle hotel.
It’s built around a simple idea: giving guests their own space while surrounding it with great shared experiences, from food and activities to a real sense of community.
Our First Impressions
SeaSpace has a completely different energy to most places we’ve stayed.

When we arrived the hotel felt busy, but not in a bad way. The cafe was full of locals, there was a mum and baby session, parents in the games room, people meeting after walks and being dog friendly lots of people on dog walks. We grabbed ourselves a table, my husband set up to do a little bit of work (they are freelancer friendly too) and we had an amazing coffee (parents) and lunch for the kids (pancakes)!

There’s a genuine community feel here, which is something SeaSpace is intentionally built around, bringing together guests, locals and partners in one shared space. Living in a seaside town ourselves, we know how important local support is outside of peak season, which made the community feel here all the more special.

The Rooms: Why Space Matters with Kids
This is where SeaSpace really stands out. Instead of a standard hotel room, you get a fully equipped kitchen, an open-plan living space and a separate room for the kids. This was a massive win for our family of 5. We stayed in a large studio, with a gorgeous sea view and with lots of storage and places to relax, this worked for a long weekend but could also work for a longer holiday.

If you’ve got kids, you’ll know how important it is to have a room that works, especially when they’re hungry right now. We were able to do quick breakfasts and make snacks for them for the day easily.

It’s this mix of flexibility and comfort that makes SeaSpace feel so well thought through for families.

The Little Details That Make a Big Difference
It’s often the small things that define a stay, and SeaSpace gets these right.
There was a cupboard with spare goggles, floats and pool essentials, which was perfect in case you’ve forgotten something, which we always seem to do. Pool towels as you walked in were so handy as no one wants to wash towels when they’re away! The games room gave the kids a great space to unwind and change things up, and the staff were genuinely some of the friendliest and most helpful we’ve come across.
Padel, Play and Activities for Families
When I say there is lots to do at SeaSpace I mean it, we went to bed with the children as we had such fun packed days! One of the most fun parts of the weekend was trying padel, something we hadn’t done before.
SeaSpace is home to one of the largest padel centres in the region, designed to be a really sociable and accessible sport. It was really busy, with 5 courts that could be booked from doubles courts to singles.
The sport is really easy to pick up, great for families and adds something completely different to your stay beyond the usual pool or beach routine. They have rackets and balls available to borrow so you don’t need to worry if you don’t have all the kit.
There are also plenty of spaces for kids to play, both indoors and outdoors. There is a big play area with a boat and mud kitchen, an adventure playground, maze and an indoor games room.
The SeaSpace Café: Food, Coffee and Easy Wins
We ended up spending a lot of time in the café, and for good reason. We had breakfast, lunch and more coffees than I’d like to admit, and everything was consistently really good.

The menu is simple but well executed, with fresh brunch options, pancakes, good coffee and lighter lunch dishes that are easy with kids. You could also pop down from your room to get baked goods, which looked delicious!
It’s also open to both guests and locals, which adds to that community feel running through the whole place.
Tallo: Dinner with a View
One of the highlights of our stay was dinner at Tallo, SeaSpace’s on-site restaurant.

Set with views out over the sea, it’s one of those places that feels relaxed but still a bit special, perfect after a day of exploring or time by the pool.
We started with a few of the small plates, which were great for sharing, before moving on to mains. I went for the seafood pasta, while the kids had pizza, which, as you’d expect, went down very well.

We loved being able to have dinner on site, the kids ran off to the games room whilst we waited for the food which made it really enjoyable for the whole family.

Tallo brings a real evening buzz to SeaSpace, with a menu built around sharing, big flavours and easy, sociable dining, which fits perfectly with the whole feel of the place.
Location: Exploring Newquay and Beyond
SeaSpace is perfectly placed just outside Newquay, giving you easy access to some of Cornwall’s best spots, including Watergate Bay, Fistral Beach, coastal walks and a great selection of local restaurants and cafés. It’s easy to drive to local beaches or you can take the coast path and walk to them too.

It’s a great base whether you want to explore or simply stay put and enjoy everything on-site.
Final Thoughts: Is SeaSpace Worth It?
If you’re looking for a family-friendly hotel in Cornwall that actually works for modern family life, SeaSpace is well worth considering and that’s probably why it stood out so much. It really does feel like one of the coolest family-friendly stays in Cornwall.
If you’re planning a trip to Cornwall and want somewhere that genuinely works for families, SeaSpace is one of those places that feels easy from the moment you arrive.
