Sometimes you just need a break that actually works for everyone.
If you’re looking for the best family hotels UK, the kind where the kids are happy and you might actually get five minutes to relax these are the ones we’d recommend.
Over the years we’ve stayed in quite a few family-friendly hotels across the UK, with a few still on our wishlist, so I’ve pulled together what I think are the best family hotels in the UK.
The Best Family Hotels UK for Easy, Relaxed Stays
SeaSpace, Cornwall
We loved SeaSpace, it’s a bit different to a traditional hotel and just feels really easy with kids.
You get your own apartment (which makes mornings, snacks and bedtime so much simpler), but still have access to things like the pool, café and activities on site.
It’s right by the beach too, so you can dip in and out without it turning into a full day mission.
A really good option if you want flexibility but still feel like you’re away.
You can read my full review here.

Best for: Space, flexibility and relaxed stays
Address: Watergate Rd, Porth, Newquay TR7 3LX

Watergate Bay Hotel, Cornwall
This is easily one of the best family hotels UK if you’re looking for a proper beach-style break. We went twice when the girls’ were younger, with extended family and we loved the mix of family friendly activities and options for tired parents to slow down.
Right on the beach (a stunning surfing and sandy one at that) lots of space for the kids to run around, and plenty going on if you want it, but equally easy to just slow down. They also have supervised sessions, a newly refurbished games room complete with Lego station, early supper and babysitting options.
The pool overlooking the sea is such a highlight, the perfect place for a chilled swim, the spa is also gorgeous, I had a massage which was amazing.

Finally, food! This was where Watergate Bay stood out for us, there are three different eating and drinking spots; Zacry’s on the sea wall which has seasonally changing bringing the best of Cornish produce to the table, The Beach Hut which is more laid back with yummy beach side dining, and finally The Living Space, which we loved for lunch.
There is so much there that you really feel like you don’t need to leave.

Best for: Beach holidays without leaving the UK
Address: Watergate Bay, Newquay, Cornwall TR8 4AA

New Park Manor, New Forest
If you’re searching for family hotels in the UK with childcare, this is one of the best setups we’ve found.
Everything is built around families, with proper childcare, play areas, daily activities so you’re not constantly trying to keep everyone entertained.
You get 2 hours of childcare each day, which makes a huge difference, plus indoor and outdoor pools.
It’s one of those rare places where it genuinely feels like a break for everyone.

Best for: Toddlers and younger children
Address: Lyndhurst Rd, Brockenhurst SO42 7QH
Book here: https://luxuryfamilyhotels.co.uk/locations/new-park-manor/
Fowey Hall, Cornwall
Fowey Hall feels like a bit of a treat, but still really relaxed and easy with kids.
There’s loads going on pool, activities, childcare but it doesn’t feel hectic.
It’s in a great location near the Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan, but honestly you could just stay put and still have a really good few days.
A really good mix of “nice hotel” and genuinely family-friendly.

Best for: Relaxed luxury with kids
Address: Hanson Dr, Fowey PL23 1ET
Book here: https://luxuryfamilyhotels.co.uk/locations/fowey-hall/
Moonfleet Manor, Dorset
We loved Moonfleet, part of the Luxury Family Hotels brand it has all the childcare options and activities that parents love.
Set on the Jurassic Coast, there’s loads to explore nearby, and then plenty back at the hotel too, the Play Barn is brilliant and the pool is great for rainy days.
There’s childcare included too which means parents can relax too!

Best for: All-round family stays with lots to do
Address: Fleet Rd, Weymouth DT3 4ED

The Nici, Bournemouth
This feels like a bit of sunshine in the UK.
The outdoor pool in summer is amazing, and the whole place has that “on holiday” feel — but it’s still really manageable with kids.
There’s enough going on to keep them entertained, but you can also just relax by the pool or head down to the beach.
A good one if you want something that feels a bit different.

Best for: Stylish family staycation
Address: West Cliff Gardens, Bournemouth BH2 5EJ

Bedruthan Hotel & Spa, Cornwall
This one’s been on our list for a while and from everything I’ve read, it feels like one of those rare hotels that works for both kids and parents.
Right on the Cornish coast near Mawgan Porth, there’s loads for families, indoor and outdoor pools, a huge soft play, craft studios, a cinema room and childcare from baby age upwards.
There is also a spa, quieter adult spaces, amazing sea views and really thoughtful touches throughout, so it feels more like a proper break than just surviving a family holiday.

Best for: Parents who want a calmer, more design-led stay
Address: Mawgan Porth, Cornwall TR8 4BU

Esplanade Hotel, Newquay
This looks like a really fun one, especially for slightly older kids.
Right on Fistral Beach, with surf lessons, a pool and loads of activities — it feels more active than some of the others.
A good option if you want something where there’s always something going on.
Best for: Active families and older kids
Address: Esplanade Rd, Newquay TR7 1PS

Another Place, Lake District
This is definitely on our list as I haven’t been to the Lake District and it is on my list!
Set right on Ullswater in the Lake District, with paddleboarding and kayaking to rope swings by the lake and movie nights in the kids club, it is another hotel that is really well set up for families.
There’s a beautiful lake-view pool, spa, games room, family suites with bunk rooms and loads of thoughtful touches for parents travelling with children.
It’s one of those places where you can be as active or relaxed as you want, lake adventures during the day, pizza and drinks outside in the evening, then cosy family time back at the hotel.

Best for: Outdoor-loving families
Address: Watermillock, Ullswater, Penrith CA11 0LP

The Grove, Hertfordshire
This feels much more like a full resort than just a hotel and from everything I’ve read, it’s one of those places where you could stay for a few days and never really need to leave.
Set across 300 acres of countryside just outside London, there’s loads going on for families. In summer, Ralph’s Beach and the outdoor pool look amazing, and there are activities everywhere, from bike rides and woodland trails to kids clubs and outdoor games.
It still feels really luxurious too though. The Glasshouse restaurant is meant to be incredible (the buffet alone seems worth the trip), and there’s a spa, golf course and loads of space for parents to properly relax as well.
Definitely one that feels more like a proper escape than a standard UK hotel stay.

Best for: Easy, all-in-one luxury stays
Address: Chandler’s Cross, Hertfordshire WD3 4TG

New: The Nici Hotels (Lymington & Newquay opening soon)
Worth keeping an eye on over the next few months. The Nici are opening two new hotels in June, one in Lymington and one in Newquay.
If they’re anything like the Bournemouth hotel, they’ll be really well set up for families but still feel a bit more design-led and “holiday-like” than your typical UK stay.
From what I’ve seen, both are planned to be family-friendly, with pools, great locations and plenty going on so definitely ones I’ll be watching (and hopefully trying soon).
Best for: Stylish UK stays with a family-friendly feel
Locations: Lymington, New Forest & Newquay, Cornwall

Saunton Sands Hotel, Devon
Set above Saunton Sands beach with incredible sea views, it’s one of those hotels where you could easily spend most of your trip outdoors beach walks, surfing, swimming and just letting the kids run free.
There’s also indoor and outdoor pools, a spa and loads of family-friendly room options, so it feels well set up for longer stays too.
Definitely one that seems to come up again and again for families looking for a slightly more traditional seaside hotel with everything in one place.
Best for: Classic beach holidays with lots of space
Address: Saunton, Braunton EX33 1LQ
Book here: https://sauntonsands.co.uk/
Woolacombe Bay Hotel, Devon
Right near Woolacombe Beach, there’s indoor pools, soft play, games rooms, activities and family entertainment, so it’s a really good option for younger children or UK breaks where you want plenty onsite too.
It feels slightly more traditional and relaxed than some of the more design-led hotels on this list, but from everything I’ve read, families absolutely love how easy it is with kids.
The beach nearby also looks amazing and is meant to be brilliant for surfing and long sandy beach days.
Best for: Easy family stays with loads to keep kids busy
Address: The Esplanade, Woolacombe EX34 7BN
